O grupo de rock U2 gravou dois de seus quatro shows realizados em Chicago, em maio, para a realização de um DVD, informou o site oficial da banda.

O DVD ainda não tem data de lançamento definida. A nova turnê do U2, "Vertigo", começou em março, em San Diego, e tem datas marcadas até dezembro.

A partir de amanhã o U2 começa uma série de três apresentações em East Rutherford, Nova Jersey.

A excursão do U2 divulga o mais recente disco da banda, "How to Dismantle An Atomic Bomb", de 2004. O terceiro single do álbum, "City of Blinding Lights", será lançado no dia 6 de junho.

O DVD terá também um vídeo gravado em um show realizado na Brooklyn Bridge em 2004 e um clipe de "Sometimes You Can't Make It on Your Own".

What a week in Chicago: a birthday, four shows and live concert shoot.

Miracle City
Introducing ‘Miracle Drug’ Bono spoke of U2’s relationship with their Chicago audiences, reflecting on past and present.

‘We don’t really look back that much in our music. We don’t look at the past but the best bits of our past we try to bring with us.
They’re our songs - songs like ‘Pride in the Name of Love’, songs like ‘Sunday Bloody Sunday’, songs like ‘Where the Streets Have No Name’ - they are the best bits of the past and we’ll take them with us.’

Miracle Drug was dedicated to Chicago: ‘Because we’re interested and we’re excited and we have faith in the future. That’s where we’re headed. So for a city of the future, this is our music...’

Miracle Man
On the first night of filming, the second show in Chicago, Bono spoke eloquently of his love for Chicago and Miles Davis in particular.
‘I fell in love in Chicago. I fell in love in a hotel room in Chicago listening to Miles Davis...didn’t understand Miles Davis or how his music could make me feel until I was sitting in this hotel room looking out the window at this city. An Irish boy, 24 years old. And just looking around Chicago I kinda’ understood Miles Davis somehow...’

Miracle Girl
Laura wanted to hear ‘Party Girl’ and got the call up to the elipse stage to play guitar with Bono. Laura went down a storm. It wasn’t the last we’d be seeing of Laura. For the third show, second night of filming for the live concert DVD, she was back. Being Bono’s birthday, ‘Party Girl’ was back too and Laura got up and joined the band on stage again to play guitar – as Bono broke open the champagne and sprayed the audience. ‘Original of the Species’ was also in tonight, dedicated to ‘Jojo’ - Bono’s daughter Jordon - who shares her dad’s birthday.

Miracle Shoot
Two nights of filming for a live concert DVD in the windy city. Director Hamish Hamilton looked pretty happy after the filming of night two, Chicago show three. And if his previous work with the band - ‘Elevation: Live from Boston’ and ‘U2 Go Home: Live from Slane Castle’ - is any indication, the results will be sensational.

Miracle Encore
Bono explained that ‘encore’ comes from the Italian ‘encora’ which means ‘again’. Traditionally it means that the most popular number was played again. ‘It’s what we used to do. We would do it because we didn’t have enough songs!’ So Vertigo gets its encore, the final song of a great show.

U2 Shoot ‘City of Blinding Lights’ in Vancouver

It’s not everyday you get to see and hear the world’s biggest rock band shoot a video. And it’s certainly not everyday you get to be part of the action.

But yesterday, thousands responded to the call from U2.com and local radio stations to play a walk-on role in U2 history. Doors were opening at 3pm at GM Place, Vancouver, but that didn’t stop seven lovely ladies lining up at 8am…

Once inside, they – and their 3,500 friends – were treated to seven versions of ‘City of Blinding Lights’. Each rendition had something a little different, as Bono played with shadows to create images not seen in the live shows.

In between takes, U2's stage manager Rocco Reedy helped the afternoon flow smoothly into the evening with a stand-up routine of jokes and bravado which threatened to upstage his pay-masters.

Fighting back, the band turned their day job into a party, as Bono led the crowd in the Hokey Cokey. Once he’d put it in, pulled it out and shaken it all about, he then asked each band member why they’d entered Pop Idol.

Did Edge’s mother know he was here? “Yes, sir.” And are you nervous? “Yes, sir.” Bono then told Edge that he looked cute in a beard, before grilling Larry: “What do you want?” he asked. “World peace,” replied U2’s newest vocalist - which drew a huge cheer from the audience.

When Bono asked Adam why he wanted to win Pop Idol, the bass player replied, “So I can travel and meet interesting people.”

All the while, the film crew worked studiously around this sideshow, with a dolly track and a lone man with a steadicam pinned to his chest. The video was being shot by the French directors Alex and Martin.

At 9.30pm, Rocco starting moving people from the seats closer to the stage for a final run through. And the 3,500 Canadians – who were in such good voice they made it seem more like 50,000 – were in for a treat, as the band ripped through ‘Vertigo’, ‘All Because of You’ and ‘Sometimes’.

It felt like a Beatles moment, but this was U2: fans were screaming, girls were crying… All because of them. U2, on the set, in Vancouver. Blinding.

humm outro dvd nos EUA que emocionante ;) ,não entendo por que fazem isso eu acho o povo de lá tão frio mas pelo jeito o dvd nao vai ser na integra mesmo talvez pegue videos em outros países tbm.

Eu acredito q estão falando q gravaram o 2° e 3° shows para despistar...no fom o q vai ser lançado é o 4°...do dia 12...pq ñ é possível! esse show foi o melhor da turnê até agora...é lokura ele ñ lançarem esse show! é o show q eu ouvi q parece ser mais perfeito em tudo e o set list é acima da perfeição! (com gloria,the ocean,until the end of the world,original of the species...)

Acho que o u2 devia seguir o exemplo do pearl jam em termos de set list,eu não curto muito a banda mas acho legal o jeito que eles variam o set list dos shows pois alem de tocarem as musicas oficiais do cd ainda tocam as demos,TODAS as musicas que eles fizeram já foram tocadas ao vivo ;)
Alem disso para os colecionadores de bootlegs,eles vendem todos os shows numa capinha de papelão e o custo fica apenas de 5 dolares...
